What\u0027s military time for midnight

military time is a method of telling the time that is used often in the military, emergency services, hospitals, and transportation industries. It's based on a 24-hour clock instead of using the traditional AM/PM format. Midnight in military time is represented as 00:00 or "Zero-hundred hours."

The idea of military time is to avoid confusion with traditional 12-hour clocks when communicating across different time zones. The 24-hour system is based on a 24-hour cycle starting at midnight which is represented as 00:00, then 1 AM being 01:00, 2 AM being 02:00 and so forth until 11 PM being 23:00. Midnight then starts again at 24:00 and you move forward again from there.

As a result, you will often hear people use the terms "zero dark thirty" (which refers to 30 minutes after midnight - 00:30), "oh seven hundred" (07:00) or "sixteen hundred" (16:00). This makes it easier to communicate specific times without worrying about whether someone uses AM or PM.

Military personnel are typically required to learn how to communicate in military time but it doesn't take long for non-military personnel to adjust and use it if they need to be on the same page with their co-workers in those industries or on deployments.

Military time can also refer to how international deals are coordinated — when two countries agree upon 12 midnight as a specific moment is when the new accord takes effect. In this scenario, 12 midnight would be referred to as 00:00 (zero zero) or "zero hour" — meaning that from that moment forward the new agreement would be enforceable and acknowledged by both parties.
